mLab Galeshewe (Northern Cape)


Our Labs are dedicated spaces that provide a range of services to entrepreneurs, innovators, makers, developers and digital creatives through our different programmes. We also host a number of partner events, workshops and trainings within our labs and technology partners can select to run mLab facilitated activities or simply work with our events team to assist with setup and arrangements.

mLab Northern Cape is a proud partnership between mLab, the Northern Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism, , Sol Plaatje Municipality, Northern Cape Community Education College, and  The Department of Science and Technology.

Our Facilities

We make our venues available to different institutions that host events that are aimed at empowering youth with digital skills or entrepreneurial development. Our venues are free for anyone to book provided that the participants do not have to pay to attend the events.

Please use the booking form to book one of our venues. Only approved and completed bookings will be granted access to use the space. Availability is subject to scheduling of other activities, including maintenance.

mLab Boardroom
This venue can be used to hold small meetings and small group discussion. This is a typical boardroom with one long table and chairs. The venue can host up to 14 people. The venue comes with a projector and whiteboard.

This place was designed to host various events including but not limited to workshops, meetups and group meetings. This venue can host up to 36 people. It is equipped with table and chairs and three couches. It has a projector and a counter.

CodeTribe Students

We are looking for our first take of CodeTribers. This is a blended learning programme, focusing on Mobile Solutions Development, SCRUM Agile and Cloud technologies which aims to drive South Africa’s digital advantage within the mobile innovation sector and ensuring transformation and inclusion of youth within this important sector.

To qualifying you need to meet the following criteria:

1a. Diploma, Btech, Degree, Honours, Masters in any Information Technology [IT] or Mathematics or Statistics related field (with experience in programming) or

1b. Minimum 12 months IT qualification/certificate from a TVET or FET College (with experience programming)

2. Must be a South African citizen with a valid ID

3. Unemployed youth/graduates between 18 to 35 years of age
CodeTribe Facilitator

mLab is looking for a talented Android Developer to join our team as training facilitator and lead developer at our new academy in the Northern Cape.

You will be leading a team of passionate young and aspiring developers in learning Mobile Development as well as contributing to the development of some exciting app projects.

To qualifying you need to meet the following criteria:
1. National Diploma in Computer Science/ Information Technology or relevant Industry certifications for a minimum 12 months (NQF level 5 and higher)
2. Valid Driver’s Licence & South African Citizen
3. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a software development environment with a proven track record of delivery on requirement specifications (portfolio of apps)
4. Have a published application on Google Play or be able to provide an APK and GitHub reference to an app if not published,
5. Must be a South African citizen with a valid ID.

mLab Intern Coordinator

mLab Northern Cape is our newest mLab. We are looking to expand our team with an Intern Coordinator who will report to the Provincial Coordinator.

This is a very diverse role in nature and will require an interest in technology, problem solving and a passion for positively impacting the lives of people.

To qualifying you need to meet the following criteria:

1.Must be a South African citizen with a valid ID,

2.Have NQF 4 Qualification and upwards,

3.Proven Record in the following: 3a. Have events management experience

3b. Entrepreneurial Knowledge or exposure

3c. Administration Experience

3d. Existing network and ability to build a larger trusted network within the local ecosystem.

Who can join the society?

  • Open to all Business, Entrepreneurship, Information Technology, Data Science and Computer Science Students in the University.
  • The student must have an interest in the tech space and have an understanding of digital economy.
  • Student who will be able to attend club events.
